چکیده

The study aimed to verify the effects of vitamin D3 (cholecalciferol) supplementation on thebody fat composition and plasmatic oxidative stress obese rats. 21 days old maleWistar rats were acclimatized in sectorial animal breed until they 30 old(CEUA nº 5866200720). Then obesity induction was initiated using cafeteria diet(Western Diet; WD). animals divided into 2 groups: CTL, fed a normal diet;WD, WD. After 90 old, subdivided two other CTL-VD WD-VD, which received during 40 (5.600 UI/week by gavage). At130 blood collected plasma separated for assays. After, body deposits collected, weighed. adiposity index WDrats higher than CTL WD-VD animals. epididymal, retroperitoneal andmesenteric WD respectively 30%, 46% 50% whencompared Body weight gain abdominal also decreased inanimals supplemented with D3. Regarding parameters theplasma, levels carbonyl protein groups lower, thiol totalantioxidant capacity (TAC) when compared WD-VDgroups. In conclusion, treatment VD3 able reduce both stores ofoxidative markers diet-induced obesity.

BACKGROUND Obesity is associated with numerous metabolic and inflammatory disorders. The current study was aimed to evaluate the effects of vitamin D administration on the markers of oxidative stress and inflammation in the cardiac tissue of high-fat diet induced obese rats. METHODS In the beginning of the study, 40 male Wistar rats were divided into two groups: normal diet (ND) and high fat ...

Vitamin D Insufficiency Exacerbates Adipose Tissue Macrophage Infiltration and Decreases AMPK/SIRT1 Activity in Obese Rats

Obesity is recognized as a state of chronic low-grade systemic inflammation due to adipose tissue macrophage infiltration and production of proinflammatory adipokines. Decreased vitamin D status is associated with obesity. The specific aim of the present study is to investigate the effects of vitamin D on obesity-induced adipose tissue inflammation. Male Sprague-Dawley rats were randomized and ...

Curcumin Supplementation Decreases Intestinal Adiposity Accumulation, Serum Cholesterol Alterations, and Oxidative Stress in Ovariectomized Rats.

The aim of this study was to investigate the potential of curcumin oral supplementation (50 and 100 mg/Kg/day, for 30 days) in circumventing menopause-associated oxidative stress and lipid profile dysfunctions in a rat ovariectomy (OVX) model. Female Wistar rats were operated and randomly divided into either sham-operated or OVX groups. Sham-operated group (n = 8) and one OVX group (n = 11) wer...
